30 Model A coupe build begins

Well, I posted a while back asking about fiberglass bodies. Today I am happy to say I found a nearly complete 30 model A coupe to begin my build. It will be channeled but not chopped. I will be using a Boling Brothers 4-10 frame, trianglated 4 link rear suspension and either traditional transverse leaf in the front or torsion bars. Haven't decided yet. As far as the rest of the build I will see where it takes me. I want a driver, not a show queen, so it will be built with that in mind. My good friend Mr. Robinson will be my main source of advice but I may occasionally hit you all up for advice too.

Straight axle or IFS?

For sure!! I recall Jim's torsion bar suspension on at least one of his builds, but I'm not sure which one! Maybe the Track T?? He's a talented builder.

I just discovered this thread. I have seen Russel's Model-A. It's rough in spots, but it's better than the one I started with. I'm anxious to see it come together. With his welding skills, he could build a frame a lot cheaper than what the Boling Bros frame costs. I have the plans and drawings of my '31 if he wants them.

Roger - My Track-T had homemade coil overs on the front and quarter-elliptic leafs in the rear. That car is in Texas now. I used torsion bars in 4 different cars of mine so far plus I duplicated them in two other cars for friends. The first set was a pair of rear torsion bars out of a Volkswagen Beetle that I used in the front of my first C-Cab delivery. After that I switched to the front torsion bars out of Nissan hardbody pickups. I used them in my second C-Cab, two friends' cars, my "31 Model-A coupe, and now in my '32 3-window. Will there be more? Who knows..?

Thanks for jumping in with your torsion bar history, Jim! Hoping that Russel starts posting some pictures of his build one of these days! Also hoping that your Electrathon experience doesn't turn Russel's A into an EV!! :eek::eek::LOL:
