We got the John Deere to leave the shop finally so it was back on the Avenger. I showed Christian how to fix a few dents and he seems to be handling that pretty well too. Every time he sees that I'm going to take a picture he pulls his hood over his head :LOL:
It's getting close Seth! You have a camera shy son and I have two granddaughters that are the exact opposite! Whenever a camera appears, Lisha and Lexi are posed in front of it with great big smiles!
Christian did his first painting on the Avenger. He did real good getting everything jamed. It all masked off now ready for paint tomorrow, I just trying to decide whether to have him shoot it or if I should.
I'd say let him decide.
He's done good work so far, from your reports.. Make the offer to him and let him fly! 8-)
Let him shoot it with a little guidance, best way to learn. Besides, white's forgiving...…….
I asked him when he got home and he'd rather watch. He said that about the jaming till I handed him the gun lol.
I'd let him give it a shot too........correcting mistakes is also part of painting ;)

If you can afford the expense of (potentially) re working it, then let him have at it!
I really kinda wanted him to do it but he was to scared so I shot it for him, I gotta say I'm kinda glad too. I was reminded of why I swore I'd never use Omni paint again, but I did this time cause Christian is paying the bill. Omni makes a two hour job turn into an all afternoon job by the time you put 4-5 coat of white on because it barley covers and then trying to get the clear to lay down decent. It turned out ok but it not in the same category as the straight PPG or Dupont, but it is 1/3 of the price. A couple hours later we were looking for parts for it and Christian found an unpainted door handle that I completely forgot about :CRY: I got that painted now and hopefully do some scuff and buff tomorrow and get this thing put back together.
So you did NOT have a "training" budget. Ah well, maybe next time!
Looking good! Were the omni issues just lack of coverage or?
mainly just the coverage, I couldn't get it to lay down like I like either but I didn't have the shed as warm as I like either.Quote:

He really seemed to enjoy body work and he wants to get his foot in the door there.
That turned out nice. Looks like it will make a good car for him and he'll have a greater appreciation for it, since he has sweat equity in it.
