    falcon gasser

well the falcon is tucked away for winter. not much going on just rounding up parts. i have a 65 289 with a top loader for it. also have an explorer motor. the 289 is a 10:1 motor not sure on the explorer but it's a roller. the plan is to build a 70's style street freak. i have my tunnel ram and various parts . i want a loud obnoxious street gasser. dont care about performance or mpg . this is my toy. i'm pretty good at tuning holleys and think i can get it close. i'll drive tech nuts with it but i always listen to tech.
the reason for the build is to do it with my godson and get him into cars. i can promise it will have one wild paint job.

Really looking forward to see this come together. I've had a soft spot for the first gen Falcons since I owned a 63 2DR HT in the early 70s (stuffed a hot dog 289 with a top loader in it. Biggest problem was getting a decent size tires on the back with the way the stock wheel opening were.......kind of thought about grafting the wheel openings from a couple of donor Falcon front fenders to the rear quarters but never got around to it before I blew the motor shortly before having to ship out to Germany.

Doing it with your God Son should make it especially rewarding.

It sounds like you have some good parts gathered up for this one Shine. That's really great you're going to be building it with your God son. My friend had a 63 Falcon gasser with a wild 347 stroker. He took it to one of those street races in KS before he sold it. He had the chance to race "The farm truck", and beat him pretty bad. Farm truck even signed the front fender of the falcon. That car hauled the mail! It had a tunnel ram and 2 holleys too.

rear tires will be below the wheel opening. would love to put firestone indy tires on it but way too pricey. i ran 14 in on my nova with stock openings.
the color will be metal flake gold with candy red over it. engine block will be gold flake. just going back to the fun days. it wont be perfect but it will be loud and shiny.
not going to start on it until the shop is empty. way too far behind to work on my stuff.

I don't build hot rods for a living, but I've been in a lot of shops where guys do. Is your shop ever empty? I can't imagine it is. It seems like there is always a straggler or something.

Hey Shine, you mentioned on one of my non-sense posts that you were doing a 60 Falcon. I looked around and found this thread so thought I'd jump in to see what you were up to. It sounds like a cool project. It reminds of hanging around with an old friend of mine in high school. His dad had a 60 Falcon sedan, 6 cylinder with a 3 speed. It was a dog but would chirp the tires in second gear! It had absolutely NO suspension...would scrape the door handles on a turn. If it wasn't for my good looks, we would never have picked up any girls in that old car. So....have you started yet? Any pictures? Is it going to be old school looking or more modern?

it will be a shiny jyd . i am so done with perfect. one of the reasons i am retiring . i miss the old hot rod days. we didn't pick them apart and bitch about everything. there will be very little store bought stuff on it. it will look like it rolled out of the 60's . not going to start on it until i finish up the 56 and the truck. then i have some farm work that needs to get done before spring. it will be a fun build . i'll be doing some tricks not seen in many years
