Beautiful chassis, glad to see you posting again.
Thanks
Is it in the right spot? I'm going to try a photo.
Happy New Year Ken-Good to see you back and car looks very Ken-------Are you going to Pomona?
Thanks Jerry, yes I'm in building 4 by the stage I'm told. Are you going?
Hope to-I'll try to meet up
Here goes...
Only a couple weeks left to finish............ya gonna make it?
I think so, the upholstery guy is coming today. He just started two days ago, he thinks he will be done by the weekend. Still has to be color sanded and rubed out. A million little pieces yet. A friend is coming out from Detroit next Sunday to help. We'll see!
Saw the chassis earlier on HRN and it's a thing of beauty - almost a shame to cover it with a body, but know that the body will be more of the same great detail. Really glad to see you back posting, Ken.
What place you going for in your class, Ken?
What ever the Devil thinks I deserve.....
But you know that's not how the judging is done at GNRS. Judging goes by the
builder's name, then the builder's name, and finally the builder's name.
I already changed my name, my twin brother Roy......
Chip away at it. May the best name win.
If Ken was going for the AMBR your statements may hold some water, as that award is chosen by a committee of well known builders, writers, artists and so on. (think Chapouris, Eastwood, Brennan etc.) and has different criteria than ISCA judging.
But, it looks like ken is doing a closed car so won't be a part of that.
Like you, I think a lot of personal preference, and name recognition plays into the AMBR decision.
However, i was an ISCA judge for 30 years, and my son is one of the judges at the GNRS, and I never cared who built the car being judged, but how it was engineered, constructed, painted, upholstered etc.
Of course, many times professional builders cars win as it is very difficult to compete against them and the money that the owners spend, but it is after all a competition. i always tried to judge each car on its own merits, and most judges I worked with over the years did so as well.
Each car has a judging sheet that the judge makes comments on and I always urged owners to pick up their sheet after the show to see what the judge wrote. This helps the owner understand what he did right and what he can improve on for the next show. The judges also stay after the show and are available to answer questions.
Knowing Ken's abilities and craftsmanship I would expect him to do well in any judged event.

Obviously, we know his car isn't a roadster. The discussion is a personal joke between Ken and myself about
how his previous entry was "overlooked" so the "name" cars placed higher. Obviously, a judge's task is tough
and it is hard to be unbiased. I appreciate the judging effort but I still contend that there is some favoritism at
some of the high visibility shows.....it would be hard to be 100% unbiased.
2 weeks to go!
