1976 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Short Bed Just finish it!

The weekend went by too fast. The car show I put on each year was on Saturday, and Sunday we had family from Texas over. I didn't get the truck home either. But, the plan hasn't been changed, just delayed. We brought the Vette over so I can fix some stuff on it. I'm taking it to an 1/8th mile track Friday August 28th and am going to let my youngest brother race it. He's been wanting to drive it for a while. I told him this is his bachelor party. Haha 2 projects will fit in my garage. I need to move the tool box and stuff off the side wall to the back and it'd be better for working IMO. The wife and kids think it's cool too. I let the boys ride with me when I moved the car, and all of them when I moved the truck in. They're all ready to go for farther rides. :LOL:

Things aren't progressing as fast as I'd like, but things are going forward. We had a water leak in our up stairs bathroom that turned into ripping out the kitchen ceiling and replacing a line. This weekend we'll try to get most of the new dry wall put up. My youngest brother got married the week before, I'm trying to get estimates on new gutters and some windows before the cold hits us. Time flies when you're having fun, huh? :LOL:

Anyhow, I ordered some raceline 16x10 aluminum wheels for it on Tuesday. Last night I ordered cross over steering, extended length brake lines, heavy duty front shackles with greasable bolts from ORD. I got new spider gears for the front diff because I welded the ones in this axle when it was in my brother's old truck when he was pulling. This weekend I hope to pick up the donor engine too. I need to get back to work on my fence so I can get the wood off my drive way and then I'll bring the 76 home. I still need to make a scrap run so I can buy a wiring harness and maybe a dakota digital gauge cluster.

I've been busy selling more extra stuff to buy parts for this truck and to get new gutters and some windows for our house. Here's a little update on the truck. I got the new wheels for it, and got the tires mounted and balanced. I also put a chunk down on the donor engine. I'm trying to keep this thing low enough to haul my gooseneck trailer still. That may mean rebuilding the front spring hangers. The next 4-6 weeks I'll be tied up driving a semi on the weekends. That means progress will be null on the truck. But, the Corvette goes to storage this week and that will open a slot in the garage for this truck.

I admire your ability to get things done on multiple fronts, all the time paying due attention to kids, wife and the needs of the house to be a home. You're doing a good job, seems to me.

Thanks Roger. It sure is a handful at times. :LOL: It sure feels like I never get enough done though. The better half really wants the fence done too. Sheesh, that fence guy is a bum. Oh, I'm that guy. Haha

Not a lot of big progress on this truck. I have drove semi the past 2 saturdays, and been working 50hrs plus Monday-Friday at work. I've been slowly getting things ready for winter too. My Dad has been hurting all year due to back issues, so I try to do some things at his place too. Last Teusday I was over there and one of his horses ripped half of the fence out in one pasture. So, I had to fix that quick. It's always something. :LOL: I have to finish a 01 Dodge gremlin truck and maybe I can get the Corvette to storage to make room for this truck.

You've got your hands full there Ryan.
Hope your Dad can at least get comfortable at times. I had to have my back worked on 2 or 3 years back.. and that was the worst part, I just couldn't get comfortable, 24 - 7 = just pain. I won't wish that on anyone!

Buy your Dad an Inversion Table! I bought one at Costco about ten years ago and it changed my life! I only use it now when I start feeling a "twinge" or ache, and hanging from my ankles/feet for a minute or two works miracles. Best thing I ever bought for aches & pains.

Roger, I'll have to look into that. My mom rented him a hospital bed so he can stay down stairs. Their room is upstairs and he was having big issues before he had the surgery. I'm sure that hospital bed isn't comfortable at all either.

I'm no doctor, and I can only pass on what worked for me. I'm an extreme user, going fully vertical suspended from my ankles like a bat as opposed to reclining at some lesser angle, and as a result I don't hang very long. I've learned to totally relax my muscles in my back to let the joints decompress, and that takes away the pinched nerves for me. I actually went to sleep on it once, waking after about 45 minutes! My feet were "asleep", and I had to give it a minute or two for the dizziness to abate, but my spine was definitely decompressed!! Basically if traction in a hospital bed is a consideration an inversion table accomplishes the same thing without all of the sand bags, pulleys and cables and harnesses.

Again, it works for me, but might not be right for your Dad. He should probably chat with his doctor about it before using one.

i have had my teeter table for years. it is all that is keeping me from serious problems. i use to hang on a strap under my arms from my chin hoist .

Almost another month goes by and no more real progress on this truck. But, I did manage to get my 4 new windows replaced in the house and 1 in the garage. I have almost 1/3 of the leaves raked up and gone, finished removing tin from an old building we were tearing down, and purchased a good used snow blower. I'm guessing I'll be lucky to get this truck in the shop until after Christmas. We shall see. Hopefully I only have one saturday left working at the farm, and then it's fence time. I guess I did finish the 01 Dodge Ram I've had at the old shop for about 3 months too. That truck didn't want to leave! :LOL: Now I have to learn to say no to working on other people's stuff and focus on my stuff.
