I love a pile of new parts

Nothing like getting a pile of parts back all within 3 days.
All three shops called on the same day :D:D:D:cool:
The Caddy 425 block was deck, bored 30 over, crank turned, heads rebuilt w/new seats & valves and an Edelbrock intake.. 400 trans was rebuilt w/a shift kit & the 8.8 rear end was rebuilt w/new bearings, a posi and brakes.
It's slowly coming together & I have 98% of all the parts.
Now I just hope the guy who said he'd put it together for me can & still will or I'll be on the hunt for someone else to do it for me. Can anyone recommend someone or a shop in the St Louis area that has reasonable rates just in case my help can't do the work????.....joe

Looking good, Joe! On the person/shop, I thought that HWorrell hooked you up with a shop that was set to assemble Marge? Has my CRS struck again?

Howard did hook me up w/a guy who does this for a side job.
Problem is his main job(welding aircraft wings for the government) has him on 6 day 12hr work weeks.
IF he can't do it for another month or more I gotta find someone else to do it.
I need a plan "B" because I want to drive this damn thing this year....joe

Well it looks like I gotta find me a Plan B. The guy who was to do my work on my truck is on 6 day weeks 12hr day until farther notice. It's unknown how long it will last but it'll be long enough he told he can't do it :(:(
This is bumming me out, I got 98% of all the parts I need, money to have the work done, yet I can't find anyone to do the work for me unless I break down & take it to a "professional" shop.

Joe, the only thing I can offer would be to go to the NSRA Fellows listing, where people in the hobby have listed their names as emergency contacts for hot rod travelers, and see if anyone can refer you to someone that fits. Of course you've already got Howard, who's local to your scene, so my idea may be all wet. Just a thought....

Thanks Roger, I haven't had a NSRA Fellows listing book in 20yrs, so that may be a bit hard for me to do. But if you could do that for me I'd appreciate it & any help I get. I'm also going to ask Howard if he may know someone else who might be able to do this for me. Cause other then trying to find a reasonable shop to do the work , I'm SOL at the moment..joe

Don't give up yet Joe, there's someone out there that can help you out. I hope either Howard or someone like him who knows the person they recommend and can vouch for their abilities. There are a lot of wannabes who claim they can do it and then you end up with a stalled project again or worse, crappy outcome. Hang tough and find the right person, it will be less painful in the end.

I ain't given up and want it done correctly & safely. It's not like I haven't taken 2 steps forward only to have to take a step back. It's just this has been on & off the back burner since 93 & I'd really like to drive it sooner then later, but it'll happen some day.....
