Thread: My 1929 Model A RPU: The Home Stretch

I have been working on this thing for about 2 years - work has been slow - but now shaping up in the final stages. It is a brookville body (original tank and hood) - modified brookville frame. I bought the frame with the body - but didn't want the coil over rear. The chassis work was done by Rusty at Dirty's Speed Shop. He did several modifications in order to make it all work (Great work, great guy).

Specs:

9" Ford Rear (57 Ford) with 4:11 Locker
SBC
700R4
Dropped and Drilled Model A axle
Split original wishbones
Vega steering box
Early front brakes - 57 Ford rear brakes
40 steel wheels (for now)

Color is 1940 Mandarin Maroon with Black Fenders. Should be out of the paint booth and assembled in the next few weeks.

I gotta see this when it's done! I've been working on mine for two years but too many distractions have it way behind yours. Oh and I decided to lengthen the body five inches so I could fit my long frame in it. Maybe that has taken some extra time? I really love your approach and keep us informed.

First of all, welcome guys to the family, I noticed that you both are new posters here so, again welcome, and a thanks for the photos and the story AgShelby. We do love photos on here. I do like your Pickup and what you are acomplishing with it, refreshing to see fully fendered rods too and adore your colour choices.

That should be a sweet pickup when done. Thanks for the pics too. The paint looks like glass.

Yes.. and some of "our" former members are there and not here.. "we" are a bit more relaxed. (usually!) we like anything with a motor for the most part.

I have a hard time with the term "traditional" as an aside.. especially when some kid wants to tell me how it was "back in the day"... LOL.. but that's a "discussion" for another day.

Ag, looks good. I've seen Rusty's work before, he comes across as a guy who just gets it done and done well.
That "bubble for the distributor is a nice execution, beats the typical large indentation that eats up precious foot room in these tight cabs.

You've got a very nice truck coming together with some fine features. Looking forward to seeing more as it comes together, and glad you're here, BTW. It's a pretty laid back place to hang around, for the most part.

great looking truck, I too have a 29 however mine is a closed cab, aftermarket frame, 4 wheel discs, 9" Ford w/3.50,turbocharged 2.5l volvo w/4spd auto trans, still a long way to go.

Welcome ClosedCab, sounds like another awesome project using something from outside the norm for engine but bloody cool. You will have to start your own build thread so that I and the rest of the family here can follow along please.
