And you don't want a cheap chrome shop, I had some valve covers done at a shop some years ago and they developed little rusty spots afterwards.

Eliminating carriage bolts is always a good thing. I usually find they have to be drilled out, regardless of applying heat and penetrating oil, holding the heads with vice grips, etc..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

All those little details make the difference between a nice ride and a killer ride. My ride is only nice

It's starting to look like a truck, cool. I like your choice of wheels too.

Well once again I could not leave well enough alone. The more I looked at the truck the more 20x12 in the rear kept on calling me. So I decided on new shoes for the project. I thought 20's in the rear would look better with the Fleetside bed. So I went with 18x7 front, and 20x12's rear.

Thanks man I really like the way that 7 inch lip looks back there. I wish there were more choices in tire sizes, I would have liked more meat. The only other choice was Mickey Thompson Sportmans 29.15.20 but $414.00 a tire will have to wait.lol I will be getting them at a later date for sure.Last edited by BAM55; 03-28-2019 at 04:52 PM.

That does look a lot better! Not that it looked bad before.
I just put some 18s on my 71 Camaro and I really wanted to put 20s in the back but the tire sizes were sparse unless you wanted to spend a lot so I stayed with the 18s.

Thanks.
I found that its not the 20's that limited my tire choice it was going with a 12 inch wide 20 that did. If I would a have went with a 20x10 I would have went with a 295/45/20 or even a 305/50/20 and had the sidewall I wanted and not had that stretch tire look that I hate. But with a 12 inch wide 20 your choices are limited to 325 and up to not have a stretch tire look, the problem is all the 325 and up I've seen come in a 25 or 30 series which gives you a lower side wall. The tire I'm running is 335/30/20 and they were not expensive at all but I would have liked a 40's series a lot more.
By the way the tire I would have liked for a 20x10 in the same brand I bought for my 20x12's would be only 150 each.Last edited by BAM55; 03-29-2019 at 09:43 AM.

Wheels look great. I agree with you that a little taller sidewalls look better, not a fan of the rubber band look tires.

Good on you for having an idea of where you want to end up and understanding what you have to do to get there. Shows throughout the project, this is just the latest example. I get a tad frustrated when someone comes on a site like this and asks a question like, "what's the best size tire for the back of my 1940 Whizbang sedan?" No idea of what their design goals are, no info on fender clearances, offsets, any of the other important info....as if there's some magic one size fits all formula out there for modified vehicles. Looks good , something as simple as wheels can make-or-break how a vehicle looks.Seth
