Flat Head in a '40 Ford Coupe
Well guys since i've got the coupe done and my home remodel is just about over but for a little paint and picture hanging i thought it was time to get some work in the shop.. This nice '40 Ford coupe needed a little up dating so we're taking out the 289 that was in it and putting in a blown flat head... up date the front end with a Mll, power rack, Ididit steering column and all new wiring along with some new leaf springs in the rear.. Will be a few months to build so i'll keep the pictures coming as the work gets done..You don't know what it is to love a car until you build one.

Interesting intake Wayne, who's is it?

Bob it's for a customer we've done work before... the blower set up is by a guy named Tom Roberts and you can see more of it at The Ultimate Flathead Ford Supercharger Kit, Flathead Supercharger Kit, Flathead Ford Supercharger Kit I got to talk to him at the GNRS..You don't know what it is to love a car until you build one.

No, I believe Henry had the body design perfect it just needs to be lower to the ground in the front to improve the stance. I too really like the blown engine that will take up residency in the '40 . I don't know about the horrible looking blower manifold though so will look at those links but there must be better looking ones then that for flatties a round.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

I think that blower manifold is cool, and polished it will really make a statement! Will that beast fit under the hood without a hole for the scoop?Roger

Yes it will look good polished... and for fitting under the hood..... well thats the plan.. i'll keep you up to date... we put together a '49 Ford pickup for the owner of this '40 and i wish he would have let me put the flat head in the pick up... the flat head came out of a Falcon he bought..You don't know what it is to love a car until you build one.
