41 Willys pickup street rod build

I had a few threads in here about choosing paint color and such. Now its off to the body shop.

Ive had the truck a few years now. It was sitting outside wasting away when I found it, a lot of corners were cut in the original build. It really wasn't running correctly either. I had been looking for a Willys for awhile and fell in love when I found this truck. Since then I've installed a new flywheel, ignition system, and also installed fuel injection. These few things got it running correctly, along with a few other odds and ends.

So it was onto paint then. It took me forever to choose a color. I love orange's so I decide to go with a sunset orange pearl color. I like the red that the truck was originally but this will make it pop just a little more. Overall I started out with a pretty good body.

The headlights were a bit of a mess (being held in with cut out funnels), and a Buick grille. Those now have been replaced with proper headlights and grille.

There shall be more to come. I am just happy the issues with the body are now fixed.

Yep, that orange should make it even more of an attraction than it is in that red. Nice truck before, and you're making it better & better.

No its going to be a little lighter than that, kind of a copper sunset. The orange back there is amazing looking, but its a tri-coat which I wanted to stray away from. The only reason I wanted to stay away from the tri-coats was because of how hard it is to match. I drive it all over, so if I scratch this it will be an easier fix. Thanks for the compliments though!

I hear you on the tri color paint. It should help cut down cost some what too. (What good paint is cheap anymore though?) :LOL:

haha yea nothing is cheap anymore. Anyways here are some more updates coming. The pictures I have were taken with my Iphone so they don't really capture the whole color prism.

I also told him to go ahead and do the column, it was showing a little wear anyways. Im really happy with it.

That looks great, and i glad you went back with the stock headlights and grill.. looks nice..

I like that shade of orange a lot! Ya' done good in the color chase!

Another update here: Its almost done, just some wet sanding and buffing going on here. It looks hugger orange in the dark shop here, but as you can see its a different beast in the sunlight.

Yea I wish to an extent that it had a blower, but the driveability of this thing is just too good. Its fuel injected now anyways so I'm happy with it. A blower is always nice though :)

It is going to look really nice out in the sun! That sure was a fast turn around on getting it sprayed too! Congrats!

Yea I cant wait to get the thing out in the sun, might need a pair of shades...

Alright I haven't been able to post many updates recently. I bought a house and have been in the process of closing and as of this past weekend got moved in. That all happened right as I got my truck back, and in the middle of all that I was able to get the interior back together.

I have a video as well, the pictures don't show the detail of the paint very well. I have a close up video of the paint as well but for some reason it won't load on my photobucket account.
