Im new to the forum so hopefully Ill get the hang of posting on here. Ive been a bit over a year into my build, its a 29 Dodge 5w Coupe. Im building with that 60s drag style, Im not going to be perfectly period correct but close. It will be powered by a blown injected 468 inch 392. Ive been crazy busy for over a year doing the bodywork, it was beyond a mess, close to going to paint now, with almost zero filler I might add. Ill post pics as soon as I figure out how....

Wow, awesome looking Coupe but, hell mate, you forgot the front brakes, with all them horses to pull up surely you ain't relying on rear brakes only with grooved slicks ? Does the Dodge Coupes have flush fitted doors from factory or have you you accomplished that while doing the bodywork ?

Thanks for the reply Mark and I had hoped you hadn't taken offense at my southern approach to the lack of brakes on the front of your car. I too am a fan of fifties dash panels fitted into earlier bodies and you have not only chosen well but the execution of it is outstanding. I certainly will be looking forward to following along on your awesome build. I had seen a Model A Tudor body altered to have flush fitting doors and it wasn't a 5 minute job either but turned out really nice for the trouble.

For the older 392's the stroker cranks that seem to be common are 4.156 (.250"), 4.281 (.375"), and 4.406 (.500"). A 4.525" stroke would equate to a 0.619" stroke increase which would be very strange. Maybe the block was sleeved and bored bigger than your 4.060"?

I called my builder, it is a Reath Billet 5/8 stroker crank, block was sonic tested and bored 60, he is calling it a 468, I did my own research to check those numbers and it actually is just a tick over 468 some calling it 469. Either way, it will be way more than I need, will post pics when I get them
will you have pics of the oil pan and bottom of cylinders/pan rail clearance???????????I always ran the stock stroke (3.906) crank because of clearance issues altho lots of guys did off set grind the throw to 4.000 stroke---took a little weld on the outside but was doable---------still haddecent rod angle and counter weight/piston skirt clearance---

Quite frankly, I would be happy with a stock 392, but the builder had the short block out of someones race car, don't know who, hopefully its not a filled block. He knows it will be more a street car so Im sure he wouldn't give me a filled block, but you have valid points on clearance issues, I will look into that...Thanks Jerry

I have a blown BBC and you running a blown Hemi , you will have the same problem, street tires want stick �� :) I am running a 21.5 Hoosier radial on 17" wide slots(custom made width) it's fun but hard to when a race when they go up in smoke , but the cool factor is all there :)
Your car probably has 70/30 weight distribution with the engine that far forward and that sedan long wheel base------all the racing altereds had 25% engine set back (lots of them more) on a chassis with a lot shorter wheel base-----------Have you ever weighed it????
Na never weighed it yet, it used to be a stock wheel base with the distrubator under the cowl, didn't like it , stretched the frame. It will get out of the hole but the only way is to not put your foot to the floor untill your rolling already. I built the motor with all the good stuff , just did not build it for raceing, but do want to put some slicks on and try a pass one dayQuote:
