For sure. We are working on purchasing a 54 Chevy COE that needs love too.

I want my next project to be a COE I think they are so cool.
 My brother currently has no full time job. He lost his job and is working off the dole and working on the side. The COE will be a project to allow him to work on too. The body isn't terrible and the cab is already sitting on a mid 80's GM camper chassis. The guy we're getting it from has already made and mounted the cab mounts, installed a tilt column and reworked the steering box, and it's all hooked up. He's already installed air bags in the front suspension and has ones for the rear. He already mounted a 454 TH400 behind the cab too. We're letting him keep that as we're putting a 24v 5.9 Cummins in it and maybe a 1000 Allison transmission. I have a heavier rear axle we might stick under it with a heavier air bag set up and maybe re work the frame to get it lower. The plan is to build a car hauler bed similar to the truck on Count's customs. Hopefully in the next two weeks we can bring it home.
The big ol Ex is running once again. I checked the drain plug and a lot of everything else because I'm paranoid now. This morning I broke the cam in and everythingwas good, no leaks etc. The only thing odd is it had a slight belt squeal noise but I think it was a tone ring tach interference issue. I should be able to start driving it again tonight.

I thought that was mamas car??
Well, I did start driving it and the same day we finally transfered the title on the way home it started making a thumping in the rear lightly. I suspected the ring and pinion so I ordered a new ring and pinion, bearings, and a set up kit. When they came in I removed the diff cover, and sure enough. One tooth was half gone on the ring gear. We put it all together Monday night and I have been driving it again. It's nice to finally get to drive it and use it. I also got rid of the belt squeal by replacing the new belt with another new belt, just the cheaper one. Funny deal right there.
will you have any problems with inspections . be a huge pain down here .
No sir. We don't have any emissions tests or emission testing here. If we ever do, at the worst I'll have to change the fuel system to the electronic version. In most states on an engine swap, the engine must be from that year or newer to meet the emissions requirements for that year. I've had this come up before and it can be touchy for sure.
Just a little update. The wife loves it and has been driving it. No big issues other than I have to see why the ac compressor isn't getting power to it. She has put 1850 miles on it so far.
Great! Another reason to go back to the 40.
Congrats, as they say "Happy Wife = Happy Life!" 8-)
Thanks for the continuation Ryan, sold my ugly van and am in the market for an Excursion with a good body and a bad engine!!! Thanks for the inspiration!!!!
