1968 Corvette Like No other ***Die Hard Corvette Guys Step Away
Guys, this is a thread showing my 68 Corvette I've had for about 9 years. I'll start back in the beginning and work my to present as I can. Here goes.
I first got this car and it was hit hard in the rear. The frame came from a 77 Corvette. The rear shell is a 73, and the front clip was a 72.
I originally had a 396 with a tunnel ram and 2 660 Holleys with a TH400. Had chrome side pipes and headers.
I got side tracked and started doing this. Haha

Stock 68 cowl area.
Mine.
Many hours of stripping paint, and some light body work. Much more was needed at this point.

Starting to build the one piece tilt front end. So much fiberglass work was done here.
This was a big accomplishment for me.

To me, that is what hotrodding is about. Making it your own. If the purest Corvette owners dont care for it, they can just not look it's way.
That is a lot of work but it looks to me as you took something that was ready for the wrecking yard and are turning it into something not only cool, but fast too.Last edited by Bug; 11-17-2012 at 12:44 PM.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. It is pretty funny when you roll it off the trailer at the track and the corvette guys are all butt hurt when you open the hood. Then go make a pass and they won't come back by. This thing is a blast to take to big car shows. I let my brother drive it in and I follow in my 40 and listen to the comments. It's hilarious! I'll start updating more tonight when I have more time.Ryan

Lots and lots of fiberglass work went into this front clip. I wasn't really good at glassing, but I am now. I even got my wife to do some of it for me. She liked that a lot better than stripping paint from the body. Haha
More welding on the chassis.
Trying to fit a starter in there.
Radiator fitment
Mounting massive transmission cooler.
First intake design. (Which ended up being a windshield killer)
First set of side pipes.
First dash.
Chassis paint and my buddy was a little tipsy and flamed the SOB.

We thrashed on this thing (this was 3 years ago) all night long and fired it up to take it to Bowling Green Ky for a diesel event. The drag race got cancelled that year due to tards. These are pics from it's first outing. We had things to finish up and we took tools with us. we worked on it more in the hotel parking lot.

If I remember correctly it did 420hp and kept spinning the tires on the dyno. They had trouble loading trucks all day.
Here was the first attept ever on the strip. I can't remember exact times.
Here's a vid from that night. Ignore the fowl mouthed idiot in the back round. He thinks everything he owns is fast.
The next trip was Union Grove Wisconsin. We faught a brake locking up issue and the intake pipe kept blowing off and broke the windshield. I think it was running 12's when we finally got to make a pass. It was June and hot out. LIke 102* yeehaw! We also were trying to get the suspension raised so the tires would quit rubbing on the big end.

Like Mike/34_40 I have no direct experience with DUI distributors but I trust Glenn's experience. Their TriPower setup (which Glenn Recommended) looks to be OEM pre-HEI size. For your radiator, the...
