As we used to say "There's something rotten in Denmark" with this saga. Somebody in this saga definitely knew what the truck is worth and was out to cheat the owner. As I stated earlier "the insurance adjuster needs an attitude adjustment". I would for sure find a new insurance company and let then know about the chump they have for an adjuster. And I agree that the topper is junk but it is providing cover and protection for what's in the bed.
I'm definitely not keeping it. :LOL: It has 2 too little lug nuts per wheel. Haha I'm just doing what any of us would do to help out a fellow rodder or truck guy.
Yeah, I don't understand why he even called the same broker? Apparently they are slim pickins up in NY? I told him he could call reliable or a known professional like that to do the job. It might cost a little more but he has already got a damaged truck he has $7900 in. $5500 to buy it, $1500 to haul it the first time, and $900 to get it out of the tow company's place.
I put some transmission fluid in it and a different battery in it this morning and got it off my trailer. I forgot I have a pesky heavy cummins in the way along with some other crap from my Dad and brothers that are blocking the south bay of the shop. I'm going to get it in tonight before we have any storms. I don't want anything to happen to it while I have it. I need to pull the plugs and valve covers. I do not believe the tow people pulled the plugs before they started the engine. The engine runs, but misses and will pop through the carb. My Dad told me this morning that it could have bent push rods from hydraulic-ing when they cranked it over. He used to be a tow truck driver in the late 60's-early 80's. He said it happened all the time. I told the owner I will try to get it running better because it will be cheaper for him to get a bid if it will pull it's self on to a trailer.
Please explain bent push rods from hydraulicking.

I would just like to say from an old panelbeater from New Zealand looking at those new photo's, is that is all repairable panel damage, even the roof looks an easy repair once the headliner is removed. I'm sure that there would be removable internal panels on the rear fender allowing access to the small amount of damage there too. The front fender could be unbolted and dressed up easily too I would think. The truck certainly wouldn't be a right off down here in NZ unless it wasn't insured for enough but then the repair bill won't break the bank if one had to pay for the repairs on such a rare vehicle.

Not that it matters now, but if you find yourself dealing with an old, defunct hot tub in the future, a chainsaw is your friend. I had one that was no longer viable, and 1/2 hour with a chain saw had it in pieces that were easily tossed into a dumpster.
When the vehicle is laying on its side the cylinders will fill with oil. Oil will also go out the exhaust and can transfer through the exhaust manifold into other cylinders. Oil can intrude from the valve cover cavity through valve seals and into the cylinders too. A person flips the vehicle back on its wheels and tries to crank the engine without removing the spark plugs. Since you can't compress a liquid something has to give. So if a cylinder is full of oil or even 3/4s full, and the piston is on the compression stroke or if the valves are shut, as the piston travels up forcing the fluid to the bottom of the head, the valves get held shut. Then the weakest link will be found. I'm not saying this is the problem with this engine. But, it ran fine before the roll over and didn't pop through the carb. So either some one jacked with the distributor/timing, or there are issues in the engine now.Quote:

I replaced my head light housings with ones that looked more stock but still accept a H4 bulb. I installed my modified grill emblem I made, and I painted around the head lights on the grill. I made a new battery cable from the RH battery to the LH battery. I drilled holes in my radiator support and ran the new battery cable through it. Previously my cable ran across the top behind the radiator. But I had panels to clean up the top and I wanted them moved. I also cleaned up the under side and repainted it to get the remnants of the winter off it. I didn't get half of my list done so that will have to wait. It was a busy weekend but it was fun.
These were the only pictures I took this weekend. I'm disappointed about that. These pics are with the air bags dumped. It's easier for the kids to get in and out with the suspension dumped.
Heck, I will need to see photo's of her sitting ride height to compare as to me, this is step ladder material now and you say she is dropped. You breed your children with extra long legs mate ?

It only has bags in the rear. I haven't gotten to the front and I'm not sure if I will on this truck now. That will mean redoing a lot of things. I have 35s and different wheels for it but I like the looks of the steels and haven't brought myself to put the 35s on it yet.
In other news......... The 1970 K10 is finally on it's way to it's owner in New York. This poor guy has had more bad luck with this truck than I'd want. This was the 3rd shipper that was supposed to pick this truck up in 2 weeks. Pretty crazy.
Did you get it running better for him, and that's a pretty sweet wagon on the top.
Yes, I could fall in love with that Range-wagon too Seth, Mid 50's Fords do it for me and especially the Wagons.
At least it's packed on the bottom, harder to flip off the trailer on ride #2! Your a good man for helping this guy out, Kharma comes around and you sir should have a good future! ;)

Last Friday night I loaded the boys and we took the orange truck to Oskaloosa. (it's about an hour away) We stayed in my brother's camper and then took the truck to the Rollin Oldies car show Saturday morning. My phone is full so I didn't take any pics. Which stunk, because there were 12-20 426 Hemi powered cars, 1 1930 Dodge with an early Hemi, and a lot of other nice stuff.
Last week I did manage to get my fog lights put in the front bumper, hook my dome lamp to a toggle switch, and installed the rear back up lights. Now to wire them in. There's a few things off the mile long list. :LOL: There's a pic of the boys passed out Saturday evening agter their semi tow truck ride and root beer floats. :eek:

Makes you remember those summer days and trips in my Uncles 1974 GMC Stepside pickup. After som good food, hard to keep your eyes open on the drive home! At one point I remember him converting it to run on Propane. Seemed like it was huge inside!
I sure do remember the cab of my Dad's 69 Chevy being a lot bigger than they are now. :LOL:
Today I stopped at a deli in Des Moines an old friend of mine hooked us on. The first shop I rented was across the street and half a block down form it. They have amazing food. When I came back out to leave, I couldn't help but take a pic. This truck was torn down in the shop over here. Kind of neat to drive by it now. :LOL:
This weekend we cut the cob webs off the Corvette and took it and the truck to a car show in Colfax. I could tell the car was glad to be able to get out and stretch it's legs a little. :eek: There were a little over 100 cars and trucks there. I didn't get any more pics because I spent most of the day with the kids over at the rides and festival letting them have one last hoorah before school started.
They had valve cover races at the show and we did watch some of that before they couldn't stand seeing the rides and not being on them. I'm going to have to look into the rules for that. There is another show coming up that is supposed to have them and I think the youngest would like to do this. I wonder if they'll allow a real wide valve cover to play? They were mainly LS, SBC, and a few SBF ones.
I gotta ask, what is a valve cover race ?

I started thinking I'm kind of glad I haven't finished the bed on this dude yet. I've been using the snot out of it hauling all kinds of odd stuff. My parent's have an old barn that the roof went to crap on and it finally fell in after a big wind storm sometime this summer. Of course this was a building we used for storage. It has the Farmall H my Dad, Grandpa, and I repainted when I was in 4-H. The rest is just extra parts and stuff I need to go through and liquidate any how. Now I have no choice. I'd like to get the Farmall out of there before it is toast. Dad tore it down many years ago to rebuild the engine and he never finished it. I'd like to get it at least in my shop before snow flies so I can determine what I want to do with it. I'm hoping to build a lean to up before it gets bad out but we'll see how that goes....
I called a few places to see about getting a dumpster dropped off. The cheapest place was $480 plus about $150 more for other fees. I opted for the cheaper option B. I'll just load the orange truck and take it to the dump when it's full. The landfill is only about 4 miles from Mom and Dad's place, and they only charge $21/ton. Today's load was only $19 and was 1500lbs. I doubt I get to the $600 mark doing it this way. I'll probably throw bigger pieces on my trailer after I haul scrap in.
