Saw the title and figured we'd have a little Frenchy French talk. Since Le Car was already taken, "Z project" makes sense I guess. No little guy in a white suit running around yelling, "Z project, Z project...." though. I'll bet you look dashing in a baret'...............

Never did like the torque arm setup on the 'maro's. Good in theory but very prone to breakage!!! Not the first one I've seen that ended up looking like a pretzel!! Going to build him a real one this time?
I offered but he has a CM 1.5" tube unit in his sights, the Edelbock unit does look a little wimpy. That's O.K. with me as I seem to be short of free time for my own project anyway.
Awhile back I offered to back half the deal, but he doesn't want to do that. Problee' a good thing, I should think about the time commitment before I open my mouth. lol
that torque arm bent right where I have stated before that they would fail---a little forward of where the threaded slug for the adjuster--that fancy flat plate with the name cut in it does nothing to resist the bending of that tube--a triangulated tubing brace would fix it, and you could use the mounts you have but redo the bars that are bent with new bracing and not have any more trouble---
the only thing that has over a stock one is no rubber mount at trans

Actually the Edelbrock arm still has the OEM type rubber trans. mount. I told Jeff the stock unit (while just stamped metal) probably has more shear strength than the aftermarket one did, the only advantage being the adjustability. Sort of adjusted on it's own though. lol. He's putting a stock one back in it today, so he can drive it a little before he mothballs it for winter.

The car sure does leave nice considering what it is and the small amount of mods done to it!!!! What is he using for a clutch?
He's got an aftermarket unit in it, I'm not sure what it is. He fried the one it had in it a couple years ago.
I keep looking at the dual disc street units....lots of adjustability and a really good selection of disc materials...... just a bit spendy!
I think Jeff could be talked into a 5 speed like a Liberty or similar unit, but times being what they are, I think it will be awhile.
Know what ya mean!!!! That's why I keep my old Nash around, to replace it with a G Force or the like is around $6k....
