Build thread 37 Dodge PU
Well better late than NEVER.
The 37 Dodge got moved from the back shed (also known as the land of forgotten projects) to the shop this morning. I was going to do that about a week or so ago but with the wildfire that’s happening out here it got kind of hectic ……getting ready in case the kids had to evacuate here (fortunately it looks now like they are going to be OK), and we’re also boarding 3 horses that got moved from the evacuation area.
I figured I’d get some of the parts off the shop floor and in the truck and start re-doing the mock-up for the Dana 60 and 518 transmission which will necessitate re-doing the floor I had mocked up. I’ll also now be using a floor shifter and headers, probably require redoing the steering which was just temporary anyway.
Once I get the front fenders off I’ll probably take the passenger side one into the bodyman who did the El Camino and see if we can eliminate the hole for the spare tire I can get fiberglass front fenders without the spare tire well, but I’d really like to keep it all steel.
Anyway at least it’s where I can start working on it again.

heck what would you do if those wild fires had come your way?? Does your insurance cover all your projects as one would be able to take everything in time as from memory those fires travel real fast plus change direction so quick.:eek: I look forward to following this build,

Whiplash I have stated value on a couple of them (the 57 Plymouth and the 76 True Spirit). The rest have regular comprehensive, which would mean a fight with the insurance company and probably only getting only a fraction of what I have in them. Between the wife and I we can probably save 2 (and I have already been informed that one would be her Mustang II :rolleyes: ) . I’ll admit as far as the buildings I’m probably under insured if everything were lost but there should be enough to rebuild the house and put up a new shop.
The best you can do out here is keep everything that can burn cut down and hope for the best.

It's not 100% set in stone yet, but the more I look at it the more I like it.

Wonderful old truck. The front grill/hood/fenders with the multiple curves looks fantastic. It also looks to be in excelent shape. Would love to see a thread on your build for this one.

Besides all of the trucks of the 30's looking great , this looks like a survivor that's is already seeing some fun street time Mike .

Unfortunately Bobby it’s got a long way to go before it sees the street under it’s own power. I bought it several years ago and went thru the mock up stage, pulled the engine and transmission out to rebuild then set it aside to get some other stuff done and it kind of languished in the back shed.

I sat entirely too long (as Uncle Bob would annually remind me) but I did get the engine rebuilt and running and collected some more parts for it.

Because of some the parts I’m now going to use most of the engine compartment, steering, firewall/floor mockup I did will need to be redone.
On the bright side I did save it from getting a 2.8 V6 / C3 / 8” rear end with 3.00 gears from a Mustang II. I think my plans going to be a lot more fun.
I did get a chance to start making a pattern for the floor today (didn’t get real far, but it’s a start.
