Cool idea. Great way beef up the opening & protect the edges. .............. and it looks great to boot.
Another great build thread full of ideas for a fix . Been watching you from the start roadster .
Yup,that does the trick,Steve..Thats a trick piece..Would never have thought about doing that,,but it looks great..The whole car is lookin good..Hey,dont you just love bonding the doors together?
Cheers Robin, yes sticking the doors together can be challenging !!! I hold them together with short self tapping screws and fill the holes in after countersinking them with GRP bonding paste, The stuff i stick the skins together is resin & hardener with blown fibreglass mixed in it, it looks like fibreglass dust similar to cocaine, seems to work really well, what do you use ???
.
Had to take a break from block sanding the GRP as my arms were hanging off !!! so while i was on the trunklid i remembered I needed a licence plae bracket.
All made from 3/16" stainless plate.
Started by making a foot plate to bolt to the trunk but it looked a bit boring so decided to make a trim for it that matched up with one around the blower scoop opening.
