I agree with you Don,Steve can't help himself and just look at all the stainless hardware he is using, absolutely nothing will ever rust or seize in the bolt and nut department. Doesn't he do a bloody marvellous job of everything he does?

Cool cage, and great friend to persist in the rain to get her done. I think the two piece slip joint should make getting it in there and out a lot easier than one solid bar! And a little chrome bling is always nice ! :)
Looking good Steve. I was wondering when the Stainless goodies would start to show, and Chrome, and I'll bet some flake soooner or later. But hey we all love the shiny stuff.........................
Nice work.I don't want to rain on any ones parade here.Honestly.I was wondering what is the rules about roll bars for nostalgic racing??.I honestly don't know.:confused:Are slip joints allowed on main hoops for roll bars??.
 Just trying to get it as period as possible Don without breaking the bank, I'm lucky as my mate the chromer owes me a favour or two at the moment :3dSMILE:
Ha ha ha, thanks mate, the stainless bolts get replaced with hi tensile bolts, i'm only using stainless as its outside and they would go rusty :(
Great minds think alike Steve
I guess i couldn't resist the odd piece here and there  Definitly no flake though ;)
I asked that very question to our rule makers Gary, the slip is 6" long and one end is rosette welded, its a real close tolerance fit, they were happy with what i showed them.
Sorry my friend, I have had trouble logging in as well and got frustrated and missed this. Dan and Dad are Fine. Dans engine had to come back apart due to excessive oil consumption. Needless to say he is not a happy camper but he is already on the way to fixing it. Looking forward to your trip in September. Hope to see you at least a day. The more the better :-) Your gasser is looking fantastic. Keep up the great work! Don Jr.
Not much done i'm afraid as still waiting for the correct 1/8" wall tube to arrive but i got the main hoop mounting plates welded on and its all bolted down.

While i was there i made some tabs to attach the B post steelwork to the cage, It certainly stiffens it all up !!!

I was a bit stuck for things to do as my replacement tube still hasn't turned up but found an offcut of 1.625" CDS just long enough for the bar that my seats mount off. It needs to be removable so i used some 1.625" triangular flanges and welded on some 2" stubs that are welded to the main hoop, as this is going to be chromed the ends of the tube and the flanges have to be pre polished as its difficult to get in to the corners once welded. The flanges are welded from the inside to keep it all looking neat and tidy.

Once the tube was notched to suit the hoop it was tacked into place, I wanted the Empi seats to be removable so i spun up some 3/4" stubs that the 1" seat frame would slide on to and drilled and welded the stubs into the cross tube.

Don i'm glad i'm not the only one that has trouble logging in !!! To be honest its getting a little tiresome, since the site changed i've had trouble getting into it, I've made some great mates through this forum but its really pissing me off now and i'm thinking of quitting it i'm afraid :(
It is Frustrating, I will type up something to post (Already logged in) hit the post button and it tells me I dont have permission to do that:confused::confused: So then I have to log back in and try it again hopping it will take that time! YIKES! Anyhow car is looking great as usual :D Don Jr.
I get some similar problems too, like waiting a minute for a browser window to open if it works, and then after posting get some wierd failure message like failure to spool or some such thing, that you end up trying to resend, or lose you response. I hope Brent gets the glitches out soon. Steve.
Now back to the bling, great job on the removable seat post. Looks like its going to shine too! Steve, your solutions to what you make seem so natural, I think, I never would have thought of that, but dang, he nailed it again! Again using simple materials you bang out exceptional parts that look great. I think that's why watching your post is so interesting. Lots of ideas to store in the back of the brain, in case of future needs!
Hell mate, please don't leave us,that would be worse then getting divorce again. I promise to be good and behalf and watch my language, please don't go.....
