Too bad you don't make fenders for a 48 Chevy or else I would look into buying some from you guy's since you aren't too far from me. If I gave you a set of my steel fenders could you make a set of glass fenders with the outline of mine?
Hey, do you make any 1937 Chevy Pickup Truck Parts?
Could you mak a fiberglass hood for my 67 couger with a 4" hood scoop. I can supply the orignal one for blue print.
Okay I'll put my wish in I would like to find a 65 chevy truck one piece nose do you or do you know any one that makes one:p :D
Hey Ray,
What's the Temperature Distortion Point (TDP) of the resin Gibbon uses in their bodies?
What glass to resin ratio to you shoot for?
What's the percentage of catalyst to resin in your mix?
Anyone looking at buying a fiberglass body should be asking those questions, and any seller should be willing, ready and able to answer them.

Where's Gibbon gone?? Their phone says they're moving back to NE; is that true or have the closed down? I heard they sold some of their molds to someone.
Anyone know more?
They sold quite a few of their molds. Kyle also sold the drag coupe. The story at the time was that they were selling the old, but still excellent molds in order to make new and improved molds.
The website is still active, but check the 2003 show schedule. Yep, 2003, not 2005. Emails aren't answered. Phone says they're closed until May 27. No phone number - just a post office box.
Clues, clues, clues . . .
Last time I was in the shop, Kyle was involved in drag racing, NASCAR, large model airplanes, antique airplances, and trucks. Building street rods seemed to be the hobby rather than the business. The cars have been crap for the last couple of years at least. Anyone who goes to Gibbon instead of Redneck, Wescott, and a couple of other SERIOS builders deserves what they get. That's from first-hand experience. I bought a Gibbon because I used to get stuff from the old man. If there were mulligans in rod building, I'd give myself a doey over and go Redneck. Also, if I had a car on order, I'd be more than a little concerned.
Thanks.
I have one of their older cars (37 Cab) that the old man did (so I'm told by the guy that started it in 1997). Just finishing it up, a lot work to get it all to fit nicely but, it seems to be OK now.
A few months ago, I found Kyle hard to get a hold of and relatively disengaged in the business; however, I did finally get the pieces I ordered.
For the Record - I had a Redneck (33 Tudor) before this one and it is a much better car (design, content, quality); but, they now owned by someone different too.
Such is life --- on down the road............
There seems to be a never-ending line of complaints about the quality of fiberglass bodies. Why?
From observation, a body manufacturer starts out by building either good stuff or crap. Then, something happens to make either go to low-class crap. Is it because there isnt enough money in the business to support quality? OR, is it because the owner sniffs too much resin vapor and his brain cells disappear?
Molds arent rocket science.....good molds require attention to build and maintain. Resin and cloth are a purchasing issue....buy cheap or buy quality. The inner structure is a design task that is straightforward.......coupes, roadsters, cobras, hoods, fenders, you name it and it is a crappy product.......
It appears that one company focused on quality products could steal the market. They might not sell you the first body you buy but they would sell all the others!
