found this 1948 International Harvester 1/2 ton, model KB-1 November 11, 2012 and working on it is like the perfect job. It is not a restoration of an original but building a street rod from several different vehicle parts. The body is International, the chassis and drive train from the transmission to the rear end is a 1996 Dodge Dakota. The 327ci engine is from a 1969 Camaro. All are being completely restored with all new parts throughout. The engine was rebuilt by Wheeler in Macon, Ga. and I completed it by adding everything on the outside. The chassis was dropped 2 inches in the front and 4 inches in the rear. All new brakes and suspension parts. I am making all the parts that are not available, like brackets, supports, etc. The body parts are being glass bead blasted before body work begins. |
