Under the knife

Today is the big day. I go in for palate surgery. A nip and tuck so to speak for sleep apnea. Liquid diet for two weeks. Wish me luck. Steve

Good luck Steve. I worked with a guy who had it done.....changed his whole life for the better. He was really having trouble before and it corrected it completely.

Keep us posted.

I have sleep apnea also -have had it for years and didnt know it. I have been on a machine for 10 years and enjoy sleeping again. Unfortunately, mine was pretty severe and pretty much screwed my lungs up. I now have pulmonary hypertension and thats being treated by $$.

I have sleep apnea also but have never been told to go under the knife. Like "bigdude" I sleep w/a machine and when my head hits the pillow I am out like a rock. Before I'd wake up every hour, now if I wake up it's maybe 2x to go to the bathroom.
Good luck on the surgery & I hope it helps you out..joe

I have it too and was able to use the machine for about 6 months, but now it keeps me awake. I have tried all of the masks and haven't used it for a year and a half. My regular doc asked if I would consider the surgery if my last mask didn't work and so I should probably go in and talk with him. Good luck with your procedure.

Good luck to you. Maybe blessing, maybe not, but worth a try if the machine doesn't work for you. Nothing like a good nights sleep after years of exhaustion.

My wife and I both have sleep apnea.

Mine was corrected by the mask. Hers was not.

She has the soft palate surgery 2 years ago and now rests comfortably all night and has no issues.

Good luck with the surgery. I know it changed mine and my wifes lives for the better.

Chris

Best wishes for the surgery procedure, Steve. Does the liquid diet include "barley pops"?

Steve,
Hope it goes well and that you'll be sleeping comfortably real soon.

Good luck Steve,

I don't sleep much my neurologist wanted me to have the test but haven't had it done so far. My wife can fall asleep as soon as she hits the pillow. A lot of me not sleeping is due to pain I believe. My wife wanted me to try one of those sleep numbered beds. I felt worse when I got off the bed then when we went in to try it out.

I hope you have really good results with as little discomfort as possible.

Richard
