I think you have the 1st number wrong as being an 8. There is a 361959 block, it is listed as a, 361959.....454.......73-90...2 or 4 bolt
My info came fron here,
http://www.mortec.com/bbc.htm

I have been to that site.
I have measured, cut and checked-the casting # is 861959 p
The block is out of the car-no mistake.

This is a question on the same block from 2005--but I don't see an answer.

I think moon is correct. What looks to be an 8 is really a 3. This was a popular 454block from '73-'85 an your block date is apparently '77.
There are no BBC engine codes beginning with 8 and there are no other _861959 numbers either.

It really has to be a 3 and not an 8, Sometimes the casting #s bleed together. Ive got a set of BBC heads that are questionable as to the last # on one of the 2 heads. but they are identical.
