SEMA '09, let the repairs begin.....

Okay.........the repair crews begin work tomorrow after kenny d, robot, and Ken Thurm came to town............good to see you guys again. Here are a few pics to give a flavor for what was at the show. Getting a clear shot isn't always easy, and a few times I beat the auto focus to the draw trying to avoid some bubble head walking through the shot.

Uncle Bob,
Always a great lunch and conversation with you and Mike. Allen Johnson built roadster was the best car their, in my opinion. I went back again after we looked at it, It would of taken a few more hours to take it all in. That guy has some real talent. See you next year.
Ken

Likewise Ken. I don't know if you remember the louvers on the hood top, but kenny was telling me he punched them in flat metal first, then formed the hood tops to get them to follow the curve. Of course each one needed to be metal shaped because they flattened out. Says he has 250-300 hrs in the tops alone!

Sorry Dave, these are all the ones I've got that are good enough to post, I'm not a big picture taker. Maybe Mike will have some more to post up.

Yeah lam, it was neat to see.

Actually Davey it's the other way round...................SEMA management won't let me on the show floor without adult supervision (somehow kenny's gotten them fooled into thinking he's an adult).

All those cars look great and bring back fond memories. BUT, I wish they would restore them the way they were, it's part of the Hot Rod heritage and, let's be honest, non of them looked that good when they were originally built.

That's why I stuck that '32 5 window in there. Look closely and you might be able to tell the paint is well worn.......might be the original, or at worst a very old repaint. The interior was a worn '50s style black and white vinyl. That thing looked like it had been stashed away for the last 40-50 years and recently revitalized for the trip to Vegas.
