Sorting out wife's new rod
The wife bought a 54 Ford...has a '66 289/C4 combo. No history on the car, but it has been played with...runs really well, and easily spins the back tires.
I will probably have lots of questions....eventually...
First, it has a "Cobra" air cleaner...10" by 12" oval....I can't find a source for filters....any ideas??
Two distributor questions: It has an Accel dual point distributor....I'd really like to go electronic if anything is available...
Also, baffled that distributor cap has a locating notch...but the distributor does not have a corresponding locating lug....can't see how the timing can be set if the cap can easily move around.....
Thanks in advance...

Well there is the problem right there, a Ford in a Ford..... surely a dying breed and to solve all issues replace one old Ford engine with a Chevrolet and enjoy endless happy miles from then on....I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

This should help you on the air filter, unless you don't like K&N
K&N Search by Dimension - Oval Air Filter
I'm not a big fan of anything that has Accell stamped it, but Petronix should have a unit to fit the dizzy. I have a Petronix unit in a Mallory dual point in a 289 powered 66 Mustang and it works great.

When are you coming to see them? (Hint, hint, hint.)
And welcome to CHR Tiredvet, hope you enjoy it here...the '54 Ford was/is a good looking car.johnboy

Sorry, didn't take time to notice that the one I linked at Summit was a K&N permanent style.

Thanks guys! It's been a long road. Fun doing finishing work for sure. Getting the dash ready for paint and some interior trim. Have to do some finish work on the aluminum headliner before...
