I got a set of ford 302 heads with a casting of C8TE. I was wandering if I could find out some specs on these heads, I have a book that says a lot about cylinder heads, but it doesn't say anything about these heads. Could anyone help me out with valve size, ports, combustion chamber cc, etc.? Thank you!

i took another look at the heads and they are C9TE heads. would these heads be any better than heads on a 1980 302?
Those are 68 302 closed chamber heads. Intake valve is 1.78 and a 1.45 exhaust
stock from the factory with 53.5 cc chambers.

That sure looks like a C8TE to me from the photo.
But it realy does not matter since the 68 & 69 are the same cc and valve size.

On the other head you can see more clearly that it is a nine. But I read somewhere yesterday and it said that C9TE truck heads have the same chambers cc as a windsor and it said that you lose compression but im not sure if it means you lose compression if you use these over other 68 69 heads or all 302 heads in general. So are these better than my other 1980 heads or not? Also I have the red ford parts interchange book that you can get from autozone and a 68 302 has 210 horsepower and 9:1 compression and a 1980 302 has 8.4:1 compression. I know the chamber size is different but are the pistons in a 1980 302 dished more than 68 pistons? If I put the 69 heads on a 1980 302 about what kind of compression would I have?
The 210 HP is with a 2V carb, It's 235 with the 4V.
And if you throw in some headers and after market intake you can get alot more.
also 1969 is a long time ago are you sure those head have not been shaved in the
last 20 years or so?
Are you gonna run a 2V Carb?

Im not so sure if they been shaved but there are shims under the valve springs so I know they had valve work. I plan on running a comp magnum flat tappet 280H cam with an edelbrock performer or performer RPM with a 4 barrel carb.Quote:

CC the heads is the only right way. some times you can tell on a head if its been over milled by looking at it if you mill alot of that head but still needs to be CC . on the bbc chevyOEM iron head there was as cast spot on the ends of the head look like dogs ears when you get past that they have been cut alot not sure if theres a Ez way on you heads but in the photos they look like they need a trimQuote:

He deals with Erson cams and he can realy tell you what works good with your motor.
I am parshall to Erson cams I used to run the TQ30 in a boss 302 and that thing absoluty
screemed. Their TQ series cams rock, Those are flat tappet cams. I think the rpms were about 1800 to 5800. I also had a small stall in it, and I ran some headers.

Thanks guys, I apreciate the help! So pat what would be a good torque cam for a 4x4? I was wantin a cam that had good low and mid range torque but still good for top end. Also I was wantin a cam that had a rough idle but wouldn't make me have vacuum problems for a daily driver, gotta have a little brakes and didnt want to have to buy a vacuum pump $$$
well you want a cam to cover every thing ? if you want a hi torque cam mild range ok and you want a top end cam? you can not have both and have vacuum ? maybe e210036. 218/218 488/488 110lcQuote:
