Time again for a Clevor????

I was just doing a bit of browsing on Trick Flow heads for Windsor's and discovered they are now selling Cleveland heads that are a cross between the factory 2V and 4V versions...should make low end and top end power!!! A lot like the Aussie heads for the Clevelands.

Thinkin' maybe it's time for a Windsor stroker with these heads??? I've had a couple different Clevor engines, but the potential of these heads sure makes it look like an option!!! Used to have to use the Cleveland heads before all the good aftermarket Windsor heads came out, might be fun to have another one!

Have any of you guys seen a set of the Trick Flow Cleveland's????

Sounds Good Dave; Do you know what the cost is on them or how many CC the compression chambers are?

62cc chambers, about $2K a pair...lots of $$$$, but they come with CNC'd chambers and super good flow, big valves and springs, all assembled.!!!!

I hadn't heard of those engnes in quite a while. Did a quick search, and looks like there is a lot stuff to do them still out there.

Do they come with guide plates too and if not are the pedastools set up for guide plates to bolt on???
Hey Dave; Never mind I called them and got a price and some info.
They come with guide plates and 2.08 intake and 1.60 exhaust 62cc verses my 4V heads
which are 2,198 intake and 1.715 exhaust with 61 to 64 cc's on mine.
Better flow and alot better low and mid range instead of all top end.
I may have to get a set of these.

Yeah Kurt, like I said looks like the took the low and mid range power of the 2V heads, combined it with the hi revving power of the 4V heads and came up with a really great pair of heads!!! Now, with those bolted on top of a Dart block having 4 bolt mains, then add a 3 piece valley girdle I think you'd end up with a real powerhouse (Trickflow's dyno showed like 540 horse and a bit more torque) as well as good longevity!!!! Oh yeah, did you notice the studs are 7/16" and not the usual 3/8" of the Windsor heads??

I was reading about some machineing for 289 and 302's, I guess that would be for What?
Install sleves for smaller head bolts? I should have asked the guy while I had them on the phone. I should have sent you these 3/8 guide plate I have here too. Of course they could be drilled out, I don't think it would weaken them that much.
Summit sent me the wrong Thermostat housing and guide plates they had sent them for the 351W instead of for the 351C. I guess they didn't want to pay the shipping back so they told me to keep them and they sent me the right stuff after they seen it was thier mistake. I had missed that on the studs though that is another good point.
I also have some of that junk Crane calls guide plates, Supposed to use them with the stock Cleveland 2V type heads with no modifacations. Junk if you ask me, A buddy gave then to me, he had them on one of his motors. They have some kind of plastic slide that the push rod goes thru and slides up and down in a rail. A couple of the plastic pieces were broken and I just could not see them in one of my motors comming apart on me.
I hate having push rods sticking thru the hood. They maybe alright for a lower RPM, But I really can't say I have never used them. If you want any of this stuff let me know,
I still have that Thermostate in the package too. I think it will fit the 289 and 302's as well as the 351W. I ain't gonna use any of this stuff, I am in the cleveland family builds now if you know what I mean. My next project will be the 400M.

The machining for a Windsor is some changes on the water passages on the deck of the block to match the Cleveland heads

Guys,I think these are the heads a friend of mine is using on his hyped up Windsor...351W block,400M crank,the Clevo heads,flash rods and pistons[dont know whose],not sure of cam specs,,or carb..but displacement of 427 cubes makes me wanna go and rob a bank,and build one like it for the F100,[a torque monster,of course]:D

Ya Dave I know some of the old 289 heads had a cresent shaped water ports.
I had to do something about them years ago when I did a Mexican style boss 302.
I thought it was just something with the head gasget? But it was a long time ago.
Lamin8r; I've got a 351 Cleveland thats got all the good stuff in it, but only have the stock 4V heads with double springs good valves and guid plates. You have to rev the
piss out of them to get to HP range. With those new heads it would be able to pull all the way thru the RPM range. The engine has not been run yet, Still have to purchase
March pully set up and Webber carbs I want, mostly just for looks. HE! HE! HE!

I didn't know you could put a 351C/M or 400 crank in a windsor block. What all would you have to do to the crank and bolck to get it all to work? what connecting rods would you use?

the c/svo main s are 2.750 the windsors 351/400m are 3.000 same size as a 460 the alot of cranks are made for the 2.100 sbc rods

Isnt a 400 crank longer than a windsor? Would you have to do any machining on the block? Would you use the 400 pistons or the windsor pistons?

never done the 400 with 400 pistons in a 351 W but why would you do all of this just use the 400 block ? you would use the piston for what ever head you end up with . the two i work with are C/ svo mains 2.750 windsor dart blocks thati will use a windsor heads with a scat cranks chevy rods. C heads could be used with the C typ custom pistons

Sweet! Missed this thread, first the cobra heads, now these. It's a fun time to build(if you got the cash) The problem will be, if we can drive them when we're done on the street!

But then I've also got a dry sump pan for a Cleveland...(got that on a deal Pat Mac and I did together off eBay)... so maybe the new heads on a Cleveland stroker???? So, anyway need to get something of mine done and sold then start getting some of these new goodies and put together another big inch Blue Oval!!!!

Many moons ago, had a good machinist with a crank grinder used to make our stroker cranks for the Windsor's out of 400 cranks, then as Pat said use the Chevy rods and some custom pistons from Wiseco...

Did you destroke it, the 400 like Glidden did with the 351C?
