302
Just curious here , but the 71' 302 2v had 210 hp, correct? Now if you were to switch to a Performer intake with a 600 Edelbrock, how much of a hp gain would you see, considering you still have the 2bbl heads? I dont know much about the 302 but do the 2bbl heads have good enough flow for a 4bbl?

it will make a difference across the the rpm range when you put your foot into it, something reasonable to expect would be about 10hp 10ft of torque more I would do headers and the cam too just to make the package. The 68 and up 302 4v type heads are kind of rare and only really just have a smaller chamber that bumps up compression. The two barrel heads are fine you have them I would stick with them and just do the cam at the same time since you will have the intake off you might as well.

Thunderguns71; The 68 4/v head is a 10 to 1 compression head yours is a 9 to 1 head and the valves are the same size. A 1.78 intake and a 1.45 exhast valve. I would say you'll gain about 25 hp.with after market intake ,carb and headers.Yes those heads are fine, you could go with a after market head to flow more. but the hp289 head is the same head just more compression or a smaller combustion chamber. I've done the same swap before and you will notice a heck of a differance in power. night and day.
