Will a flexplate for a 351 windsor fit a 302?
They will interchange, as long as the balance is right. If both are the same year, it'll work. There are several different weights on SBF plates. There are at least two different diameters, too.
All early small blocks were the same balance 28 ounce ,then in 1980 ford built the 255 this had a lighter crank and a 50 ounce balance this crank was incouperated int all the car 302's in 82 . the 351 windsor has always had the 28 ounce balance .The cleveland and 400 are the same and the large diameter 164 tooth flex plate is used on all of these engines . 302's were used with a 164 tooth 28 ounce flex plate ,a 164tooth 50 ounce flex plate , a 157 tooth with 28 ounce and a 157 with 50 once . there was also a 141 tooth 28 once . flex plate used only in V8 mustang II's from 1975 -78 .Quote:

There is a bracket adapter that can be purchased to allow you to use your 302 brackets on the 351.
