On the balancer, timing tab is on the right side of the engine.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

The balancer is probably greasy. Wipe it down with a solvent. Usually there's a groove in the balancer at TDC. Dab some white paint in the groove.Jack
