Hello everybody,
my buddy just bought a motor off craigs list and we need help identifying it.
he was told it was a 351 windsor made in 1983, but now he's not sure what it is, i tried searching this forum with the engine numbers already but no luck.
the numbers off the block near the starter are: EOAE D3C
the numbers off of the intake are: E3 AE-9425 BD
it seams like it could be a 255, 302 or a 351, any help would be appreceated, thanks

Can't say for sure from your pic, but it looks too narrow to be a 351. They are a couple of inches wider than the other Windsors. Looks like a factory 4V intake on there, so it might have some more of the "goodies"!
The E3 manifold was first cast in 1983, so it could be an '83 engine.

Jason are you out there, did you measure it or take a valve cover off, post up, what kind of motor is it....its starting to drive me crazy :D
The 302's and 351W's are not the same block. A 351 Windsor is wider and taller then a 302 due to the increased deck height. The oil pan for the 351W is wider then a 302 pan, also. The quickest way to tall, and if your engine wasn't so yucky I could, is the water pump location. On a 302 it is just below the block deck surface, on a 351 there is approximately 1" of space between the deck (where the heads bolt on) and the water pump. And yes, the intake is wider to allow for the increased deck height. The 351W is about 9 1/4" between the bolt holes, the 302 is about 8".

im not familiar with these motors.....being a chevy motor guy and all:eek:, can i say that "c" word in here:D .....so the homework begins.
