bolts water pump pulley
I put a 94 T-cover and water pump on my 84 block. I'm missing the bolts i purchased some 8x1.25 mm and 8x1.0 mm close but no fit i also tried some 5/16 sae and fine . Would they be a 7 mm ? I.m hoping i find the box been hidden in shed 10 years.
Ended up 5/16 24 , the one i tried must have been a metric that got mixed in my sae

good cause 5/16-24 is what i've always seen on american cars

Yep, I think you are right, SAE is what it should be. I just ran into this on the tranny mount for the T. The bolts were metric, so I picked up some 10mm bolts, but they wouldn't go in. I found out there are different thread counts, 100. 125. and 150...........i needed the 150's.
I'm so glad we didn't convert completely to the metric system.........it's tough enough as it is.

i dunno i prefer it one way or the other sometimes..... its a pain when you're working on a car in the shop and half of everything is SAE and the other half is metric..... they've changed that a lot since the 80s to early 90s, now its all metric, at least its a little less confusing that way

I wish we had changed over. Metric is easy, everything is a multiple of 10. We should have made ours 10 inches in a foot and 10 feet in a yard

Thanks guys the 5/16 i thought i was trying was a metric . I took one from the A which has alot of 5/16 24 and it worked . This also helped identify those for the future .
This was a challenge though and the mix in bolts could cause a problem to some me in question thinking it was all metric myself . I bagged the old bolts but didnt find the right box in the shed :( .
At work on Danly presses they use a odd 1 1/4 x 8 threads per inch instead of the standard 7 per inch .
