Someone told me that you can buy an adapter to use a 350 turbo tranny with a 302 engine? Any experience with this? Good or bad idea?

ummm....why would a TH350 be better than a C4? Just curious.
I was just curious myself. I have always wanted to replace my 350 with a 302 ever since I bought my car. My cousin has a 302 that came out of a 1989 Mustang, and I was just wondering what my options are for the tranny. I just had my 350 turbo rebuilt last week for $750, thought since it was rebuilt it may be my better option for now.
you can buy an adapter bellhousing.... transadapt makes one.... might be able to find it on summit...IMO a built c4 is better than a th350.... but i'm a biased ford guy
i would think a th350 would be closer to a C6 than at C4. far as i'm concerned a C4 is a light duty trans. :HMMM: :cool:Quote:

what can i say? if you believe that the C4 is equal or better than the 350, then thats all that counts. i just don't agree with it. :cool:Quote:

a C4 is closer to a powerglide than a 350. a little better than the powerglide. :)
To my knowledge C-4's were never put behind big blocks and TH-400's were behind big block Chevies and some small blocks. C-4's can be made to handle the torque, but why? I can understand the two speed Powerglide, Super Comp would be lost without them.
A failing of the C4 is insufficient oil flow for cooling. The pump just isn't big enough to handle the heat buildup when there's much power going through it.
Back to the adapter...................I figure, by the time you paid for an adapter, you could pretty well cover the cost of rebuilding a Ford tranny.
Poncho said it all!
