Dave,I am working with a customer and for a U.S.M.T.S. engine he wants to build a 420 with a World iron block.4.125 bore/4.00 stroke,6.20 rods 14.5 to1 on alcohol.He wants to use some of the Clevland style heads from Australia.I told him yes, it will run with the Chevy boys.It should push the 750 area.I wish I could run the 6.20 rods and semetrical ports in the Chevy engines.
I ran a set of the Aussie Cleveland heads on a Clevor engine. Had them ported and flowed by Sehr Performance, very impressive head for the $$$$$$
Now I have to get something done and sold so I can afford all the new aluminum goodies!!!! Dang, I wanna go to Boneville before I tip over!!!!
I went out there in the late 80's.I don't know what to think of the guy's, kind of a cross between drag guys and street racer's.Very serious about what they do.Quote:

Yup, been there a few times as a spectator myself, sure do think it would be a blast to make a pass or two down the salt......Then maybe on to El Mirage and Muroc???????????
That Al 427 is one gorgeous engine. Except the distributor is on the wrong end ;)
They are a bit pricey though. Make sure you get SAE O'ring freeze plugs in the block. All the stress bearing threaded holes should be Keenserted, not just helicoiled. General rule of thumb is to make damn sure the block is warmed thoroughly to operating temperature before stepping severely on the gas. If it ever over-heats severely you will be an unhappy camper.
