Choosing the right Parts

I am getting back into my wifes 69 Mustang and need some advise. I have a clean block that has been machined, bead blasted, and all the ports have been cleaned. I do have all the parts for the bottom end and the camshaft. It is a performer series cam. I am stuck on the top end. Can anyone help with the right combination of top end parts.

The engine is a 302 bored twice over. I was thinking of a 600 CFM carb with a mid-rise intake manfold. I also would like to get some raceing heads but again am not sure how to select them. What do all the numbers mean when it comes to valve size and all other measurements.

Welcome to CHR, Black Sunshine. A set of Edelbrock Performer RPM heads and the matching Performer RPM can, intake, and carb is a tough combination to beat for street use. Only thing that will make it better is the 347 CI stroker kit for the bottom end.

AFR 165 heads, Air gap clone by professional products, crane 2030 cam and 650 dp holley classic. 290+ rwhp. Proven package. Its on my car and very streetable and revs to 6000 rpm.

Thank you for your reply. I am quite partial to Edelbrock parts and the Dave reaffirmed my thoughts of what I wanted to use. The heads are still an issue in referance to what the different valve sizes are and how to figure out the proper combination. I think if I choose a premanufacture set then I don't have a choice on valve size anyway. So I will try them out and if they don't do what I want them to then I can always replace them.

If you already have an Edelbrock Performer cam stick with the formula and use their intake and a set of their heads.
