i've got a quick question.... on one of my 69 galaxies, i'm putting a 302 in there because i dont have the original 390.... it used to have a 302 but i lost the motor mounts.... i tried buying a set of 302 motor mounts and those didn't work cause they only made a reversable motor mount for that car, which means that the stands were staggered.... do 390 motor mounts bolt on to a 302
I'm pretty sure the answer is, no. The 390's are in the FE series Ford's.......so are the 360's......332, 352, 406, 410, 427 and 428. Those (FE's) should/might be interchangeable, but I'm not for sure. The 221, 260, 289, 302 and 351W, might interchange with each other as well. Basically, you are dealing with two different classes of Ford engines.
Are you looking for the mounts that physically mount to the block? Or, the mounts that go from the frame to the motor mounts?
mounts that go from the block to the stands on the frame.... i had a set before that worked fine on my smallblock, but now i cant find them.... and the mounts they sell at the store are a single part# but are offset, so when you put it on the opposit side.... it makes it so one mount needs to be back like a half inch to fit on the stand....
My suggestion would be this: Get some basic engine mounts that mount to the block themselves. Then, build a new engine cradle that mounts from the frame to the engine mounts. I did this last summer when I was facing clearance issues with my new headers. I realize if you are trying to do a stock restoration, it can present problems, (not factory) but you can do it.
car never actually came with a 302.... so and i'm actually just trying to get it running and get rid of it, so i have more money to dump into my mustang.... and about 17 feet of driveway space freed up
Yep, the casting on the W block is offset from one side to the other and the motormounts are also offset to make up for it so that where it bolts to the car is even.
