Will a stroker kit fit a 65 289,I am planning on putting the motor in my 37 chevy p/u and the 289 has the lower radiator hose on the same side as the 235 six. Or should I use the 92 roller cam 302 and have the radiator reworked. Jeff

IMO, a radiator inlet change will be a lot cheaper than a stroker kit. If you already have the motor, I'd use the roller cam 302 and call it good. If you don't have the 302 and want to stay with a ford product, I think a 351W with some decent heads would be a better choice. Just my opinion.
or if you want even more power, you could try finding one of the hard to find late 80s early 90s roller 351s.... those bad boys put out a lot of power
I have both the 289 and the roller cam 302,the 289 locked up so it will need crank work so while I am there a stroker kit will go in. I am just trying to see if the stroker kit will fit the 289 and if it wont work right in it I will put a stroker kit in the 302,I thought about a 351 but I want to use a motor I have in stock. Jeff
yeah a stroker kit for a 289 is called a 331 stroker, pretty much same thing as a 347 its just a lil different of a displacement
Jeff, I've had a few of the 347's over the years, the make a really nice street engine. With the roller cam you block you should be able to put together an engine with decent power and excellent driveablity. Guess if it were my choice I would use the 302.
