cam not turning
ok so last night at about 1 am my car broke down.... seemed like it stopped getting spark... so i pulled off the distributor cap today to test my points, and found that the distributor wasn't turning when i cranked the engine... so i pulled the distributor and it spins by hand out of the car.... so i stuck a screw driver on the cam gear and cranked the motor.... no movement whatsoever.... engine is a 69 302 running in a 66 mustang... last work done to it was about 2 weeks ago, i put on a double roller timing set.... is it possible for the chain to come off or break on a brand new double roller? or am i more likely looking at more serious problems??just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

Did you iron out your earlier problems with installing the double roller? I hope you didn't have excessive endplay and end up breaking the cam.
Any possibility that the valves have hit the pistons?

Pull a valve cover and see if any of your rocker arms are moveing. you may have a broken cam or the bolts may have backed out of the timing gear Good luck carl

yes i did luckily figure out all my problems that i had earlier when installing the double roller, she went in nicely once i got it all squared away.... the rocker arms aren't moving, so i know the cam/dist gear didn't come off the cam.... i have a feeling the dowel pin, that holds the sprocket in place, fell out..... cause i always have the stupidest problems like that happen to me...... and so now I'm gonna hafta pull the whole front of the damn engine apart again.... I'll fill yall in after i pull it apartjust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

The dowel pin drives the cam, a BOLT holds the sprocket to the cam. You did install the bolt didn't you? With Threadlocker Loctite?? After cleaning all the oil off the bolt threads???PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

I just discovered this thread. I have seen Russel's Model-A. It's rough in spots, but it's better than the one I started with. I'm anxious to see it come together. With his welding skills, he...
