I'm converting from a FMX to a 86 AOD transmission. I'm planning on using the flywheel and converter from the 86 302 motor/tranny. I see there is a aftermarket throttle cable for carborated engines. Any other issues to be aware of ???
Thanks

If you use the '86 flywheel, your engine will vibrate like a son-of-a-gun. The newer cranks are balanced differently because they are lighter. Also, harmonic balancers changed. You need to read the Q&A section in the March? issue of Mustang and Fords, and the April?(the current issue) issue has a complete AOD swap article. It discusses balancing, bell housings, etc. Hope the Info helps.
Don't know how big a concern it is but the 1st gear in the AOD is going to kill standing start acceleration. Might want to look into the first gear kit.
