K code 289...

I picked one up with my hot rod project, it's a 1967 HiPo 289. I'm not sure if this is the engine I want to run or not. Anyone know how much these are worth? It's got the stock HiPo manifold and carb, headers, aftermarket chrome valve covers and it's missing the distrubuter. It supposedly runs. Thanks.

I haven't moved the engine to my garage yet, but it had a number stamped on an ID tag that said 1967 Ford k-e 236-4 14 I'll post the rest of the info when I pick up the engine next week. (have to make room in my one car garage for it).

my father has a k code 289 with original shelby valve covers on it with 40,000 original miles thats been sitting in his garage since 1973.... he has not touched it... will not let me touch it... its a pitty, would've been perfect for my 66 fastback to do a gt350 clone

Yea, I don't see them available all that often. I'm having guilt issue's about putting it in my Model A, but hey, at least it's a ford in a ford, and not the SBC 350/350 combo that's all too common (no offense to anyone that has that in their rod btw).

Hey Kook, I sure don't see any reasons for guilt issues about putting a skinny Henry in an Abone. Add a Tremec 5 speed, 9", and lose the fenders, all things would be perfect in the world.

Yea, that's where I found out I got a pretty good deal on my engine. I'm sure it's worth more then I paid for it...

Knew an older guy in Mississippi had a 66 2+2. When he sold it he took the original 289 out and put in another. I was a kid and never understood why. Maybe he had a k series.

Yea, I think I'm going to skip that stuff, I'm building a channeled modified roadster (like a T-Bucket, but no truck bed and it's a 31 body) out of a 31 4 door sedan. So locks, windows, and AC would all be like peeing in the wind I think it's a cool looking engine. And I get the added bonus of not just making the model A purists hate me, I get to make mustang purists hate me too! Woohoo. Actually, I'm not trying to make anyone hate me, I'm just building a car out of other people's discarded projects and spare parts. I just think I've been fairly lucky, especially in this day and age of EBAY and what have you, deals aren't as easy to come by.
