Your oil press is way low. Has not a thing to do with valves.Did you install a new oil pump? I would put a mechanical gaugee on it and see what the press reads then. if you only did a head job, could be worn cam bearings, mains,or rods.
Yes. I installed a new pump. I have a mechanical gauge, it'll hop right up with the tach. No, I didn't touch any bearing, it was essentially an upper-end rebuild. Ive already heard the diagnosis from several people on the pages before as well as previously providing this information. From what I've heard, I'm not too concerned, as I'm not racing for pink slips or turning 6,000+. Nevertheless, I appreciate your concern.

Ok, im getting tired of my car! Solo...past few days no problem, and the oil decides to chill in the pan like a good petroleum product...BUT. Today, after running it...it got hot (220 running, damn traffic), so oil psi @ 2,000 was between 35-40, no concern. Never went under 10 at idle, so nothin new...but, after checking it (After a few hours, at 140), it reads 1/2 quart low...so I started it...and looked at my plugs. Number 8 had a wee puddle of oil around it, so pulled the plug. No fouling...apparently, only a bit of "grime" around the very base...but how did I notice? It was bubbling...around the plug. So I just tightened it back up and haven't messed with it yet. I'm really fed up with this.
The only out of them ordinary thing? When picking up my girlfriend from school, I turned the car off for about 5 minutes, when inturned it back on, a beautiful smoke plume attacked the people behind me....from my pipe...it went away and off I went. Back to question number 1...do valves need to seat, or is something blatantly wrong?
Hi Jim, not to side track this thread, But I've been busy on OHM#3, 31 roadster. Good to hear from you. Back to business.:):) Valves are seated by the shop. when they go on the head need to be ready to run. I still think you might be having an intake gasket problem.there could be an oil drain back problem, with the oil puddling in the head and on the intake stroke sucking oil thru the valve stem. ck your drain back holes in the ft and rear of the heads with the v/c off.
I'm gonna pull the valve covers later today. When I swapped the rockers I didn't see any obstructions, but I'd rather check that first instead of taking off the rockers/pushrods/intake just to check a gasket, but I'll do that soon if I have to...thanks for the suggestion, I know when I was doing the rockers I stuffed a shop towel down each return, but I took them out, maybe some got stuck down in there...I'll let y'all know how this goes, thanks again everybody!

Mike, sorry about your problem. All galley plugs installed? [10] Install a 5/16 3/4 inch long galley restriction plug beside rocker bolt. drill galley plug to 3/32. The galley that comes up from the cam bearing. Do both sides. there is some good ways to modify oil galleys, when you have a bare block. But you are past that. I drill out galley from oil filter adapter to pump to 1/2 inch. tip block upside down, 12 in. 5/16 drill bit. drill out galley from top of cam bearing to lifter galley. Just so you know.
Mike the best way to build oil pressure is new cam bearings. second, rod and main bearings. FYI On a fresh overhaul the oil pressure should be approx. 82 lbs. @ 2800 RPM.
