Cam sprocket doesn't fit
Hello,
I got myself a Edelbrock performer-link timing chain set (7808) for my 1964 Ford 390 FE with the stock cam. During instalation I noticed that the cam sprocket dowel doesn't fit the stock cam........
The sprocket dowel hole and cam dowel hole don't line-up.
The 390 doesn't have the thrustplate type cam. Mine has a spring and thrust button.
Did I buy/get the wrong timing set for a '64 FE?
Will this Edelbrock timing set only fit Edelbrock cams?
Which timing set will work on my cam?
Please help me out... It's hard to get good FE info here in the Netherlands...
Thanx, Ramon

You didn't maybe have it backwards??

Looks like you chose the correct part number for your motor.
Lay one sprocket down on top of the other and sight through to see if everything lines up the same way. Edelbrock may have packed the wrong part in the 7808 box.

Allready did this, and NO, they don't line up.
So, or my '64 motor has a pre '63 cam in it (my cam has the old style thrustbutton) or Edelbrock put the wrong sprocket in my timing set....
