445 Build has begun
I introduced myself a couple of weeks ago and I've finally got around to getting a few pics up. We don't have too many customer FEs but we like them. We started with a 390 bored .030 over, Eagle steel crank and H beam rods, SRP flat top pistons. The 445 uses a LONG rod at 6.700.
Here's a few pics of the parts. You can see the size written on the pistons and at this point we had not measured the crank and sized the bearings. All the parts are nicely machined and were very consistant, we were pleased.

Here we are measuring the mains. If anyone is interested in our bearing measurements we can put that information together, all of that was recorded.

The block has been painted since these were taken and the heads should be here today. After they get worked on a little bit we'll bolt them on. If anyone has any questions about the build or about us, fire away.

Gonna be a nice engine, what's it going to go in? How well did the Eagle crank mic out?

This one was within .0005" so we were happy. Eagle does have a reputation of being a little loose on the tolerances though. There is a good chance it will find it's way in a 67 Fastback.

Guys, it's been a long time since I posted and I apologize. We got into a couple of tight spots time wise and the motor took a back seat for a while but I am happy to say that we got it completed. It ran on the dyno on Friday and performed well. I'll get all my pictures together as well as a copy of the dyno sheet and get them up in the near future.

We got this thing finished a little while ago but I've been slack in the pic posting department so here you go. Again, if you have any questions, please ask.

Hello Spittinfire, i have a couple of questions for you, i see your block has ribs down the sides, similar to the block in my Galaxie. my block has no numbers, only a couple next to oil filter, very had to read. i think it may be a 72 truck block ? the guy told me several times the motor is a 427. would it be possable to come up with a 427 with that block. there are a few photos of my block under Barn find 64 Galaxie i had post a while back. Thanks Ken

Ken, I doubt you have a 427 as they were their own animal in the FE family. The ribbed block you mentioned is common to trucks and I haven't seen them in cars but I won't say they aren't out there. This block actually started life as a 360 in a truck but the 360 & 390 blocks are the same.
Again, sorry about the picture size....I'm better with motors then computers.
