This is my first post after my introduction post (and there will be a lot more FE related questions...)
My 390 FE is leaking a lot of oil. Now someone told me that if the pcv is not operating properly, the presure inside the crankcase is working the oil out via old seals and gaskets... Is this true?
Can I test the PVC?
If it's broke, vcan I delete or bypase the PVC.

remove pcv valve if it rattles,and is loose its ok can clean it up with carb. cleaner,they should be cheap at any parts store.is this a stock engine???the hoses could be clocked up with sluge.replace hoses and another promlem area is the factory carb.spacer.could be clogged up with oil and exhaust residue. good luck
These are very low cost to replace. Replace it and see if things get better.
Not sure if you can find an exact replacement for a PCV in The Netherlands, but an auto parts store should be able to fix you up with something that will work form the 1960s or '70s. They aren't exact science. But as you asked, yes, you should be able to remove it if necessary. It's not a closed system, so the PCV can be removed, but it isn't recommended. The oil filler cap is open as well, allowing air to reasonably free flow.
I just looked it up - the PCV (Fram FV100) fits almost every Ford and most GM cars from 1961 to 1967 and in the US is less then $4.00:CRY:
Thanks for the input guys! I will clean the hoses, spacer and pcv.... I hope the presure is better after that.
