I bought a short block a couple of months ago and let my wifes cousin do the install. He took my old heads by the way only had about 54000 original miles ot. But unfortuntly for me a the time I purchased it I later found out the block had several cracks in it. So I accepted that folly. My wifes cousin hasnt called me. This leads me to beleive I wont get any satisfication from him. He lives a couple hundred miles away from me. Last nite I felt down on the left side on the corner of the head that meets the block and there is fresh oil their. Some things I have been throwing around in my head is this. I could pop the valve cover off and see if the bolts were torqued down right first. Its going to be about 80.00 a hour to remove the fluids pull the distributor out remove the surge tank and the manifold with the carb on it and the lingage. Hours involved 8-12 hours. What type of quarantee would I expect to get from a store front on the workmanship. If I wanted to go the least expensive route could any of the ford guys recommend a good sealant that would work to get me through the summer. This is a 1962 engine with the same casting as the original. Its a thunderbird. Thanks Larry. Iam also concern with other gaskets that would be affected also. Such as the manifold gasket and the valve cover gaskets. What does this sealant actually suppose to do anyway. I purchased some Bars stop leak for the old radiator didnt do jack sh. Thanks Larry
