how to locate a leak around the intake
Some people say that if there was a leak it would be around the edges of the intake. Would I be able to see it from on top sides or where. The leak is coming from the drivers side.AS Iam under the car I threaded a close hanger upward on the left side of the oil pan as that is where I suspect the leak is coming from. This is a 62 thunderbird with a fresh short block in it. If it was from the valve covers wouldnt the oil gather onto the exhaust manifold. Its not the oil pan bolts as I thought yesterday. The leak is high up I would imagine it would have to be coming from the drivers side of the intake. But would I be able to see it thats my question. Thanks Larry

There is a special dye that will show up under black light and reveal the source of a leak. Go to Waikem Chrysler Jeep or any other Mopar dealer and purchase a bottle of part number 05010042AA 4-IN-1 Blacklight Dye. Add it to the engine oil. You may want to take the car to a car wash and clean the motor off before you do this test.
Go to Spencer's Gifts, 4100 Belden Mall NW, North Canton, OH 44720
(330) 494-7859 and purchase a black light bulb for your trouble light. At night, you will be able to see the engine oil on the outside of the motor as a bright yellow leak.
It works in coolant and atf too.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

locating a leak
hello Techinspector. It has to be around the baby moon of the valve cover or the back edge of the intake manifold. Iam taking to a ford dealership for a free visual inspection they want 70.00 dollars for the same test. If they cant locate it I will by the dye and blacklite. Thanks for your input. Larry
Could it be a 10114182? If so, it is a Gen V 454, 4 bolt 1991 (or later). Hope that helps..
