please help 332 ?
i have a 58 fairlane 500 with the 332. I was told when i got it that it had been bored and stroked to a 390. Does that meant it would have been bored and a 390 crank, rods, and pistons put in it. Or is there other ways to accomplish this. I need to put a cam in it. While I have it apart i was gonna get heads redone, and check cylinders, etc. If it needs work done i dont know what parts i would need to order. Any ideas? by the way I am new here and should of said hi first. My car has my attention sorry.

Just measure the bore and stroke as you're disassembling the engine... then you'll know for sure what size everything is and can get the correct parts the first time!

Some of the early 58s were solid lifters--hyd lifter engines had a splotch of orange paint on the timing cover but had adjustable rocker arms--later engines had non adjustable rockers and used different pushrod lengths to set valve train

As Dave said just measure it as it comes apart.
Many....many years ago I built a truck motor to pull a large 3/4 ton camper and boat trailer. I used a 428 CJ block/crank and some heads off of a 332 motor. The 332 motors originally came with heads that had "machined" combustion chambers and the early large/tall intake and exhaust ports. I also used an aluminum Police intake with a single Holley. It was a great torque motor made out of parts I found kicking around the dealership backyard.
