the only reason I want to use the 390 block is for the fact that it is the original block. I have been debating going with a 460, but I really want to stick with the fe. I have seen the 427 blocks from companys for about $4,000 but thats too much for what I want. I don't want to drag race the car, I just want a cruiser with a run to the 1/4 mile track once every 3 months or so.

Barry, how much can a 390 block safely handle in your opinion?
