FE swap into 77 ford F150
Hey guys,
I am about to undertake an engine swap in my 77 ford F150 4X4. I am taking out the origonal 300 cu in. six cylinder and I am wanting to put a 410 FE in its place what do I need to do for this swap? Do I need to do anything with my suspension, my motor towers, or power steering brackets? Thanx about for your replies.

The power steering brackets on the engine will have to be specific for the FE engine. You will also need to get the motor mount towers from a 73-79 that had a V-8 in it, and motor mounts for an FE. You will also probably have to re-drill the crossmember for the motor mount towers. Easiest way is to set the engine in place with the motor mounts and towers attached, mark and drill the holes....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Do i have to change out the coils springs in the front suspension. Why should i use the 12 inch flywheel and clutch. I really want this swap to go right, or as right as it can. thanx a bunch for the replies.

Not enough difference in the weight of the engines to bother swapping out the springs...but if the truck has a sag in the front know it would indicate the springs are worn, and might as well be replaced anyway.... Could go for the bigger clutch, not essential but it will hold better and probably last longer.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
