A buddy had a 65 Galaxie with a 352 qnd 4spd he ordered new that also according to the books should have been a toploader that was a T-10, once again a west coast production.
yeah i hear ya, west coast production cars are always weird, my San Jose plant 66 fastback says it should be sage green with a 6cyl and an auto with a 7.5" rear but its got a 65 shelby kcode 289 and t-56 and a 9" and shes painted cherry red.... i swear its original

but yeah, your swap should be pretty simple.... you can get toploaders on craigslist here for about $120....... i dont know about there though.... good job scoring a 390 car.... i envy your ease of fitting a big block in your car.... i wish it was that simple on mine.... 67s are nice.... i prefer the 66 though
just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day
