    I found a 427so shortblock,new pistons,rings,orig crank and rods.exc condition with a jan 65 date and hm138 stamping.May be a ac cobra motor.

    Not a "AC Cobra" Motor as Shelby got them directly from Ford Motor Corp. If you have a HM138 stamped into it, it could be one of Holman and Moody's crate motors, or it could have been an "in house" rebuild. Since Holman and Moody are still in business today, you might want to contact them directly to see if their "vintage division" has any records or insight into your motor. I'll place my money on the "in house rebuild" in this case, as the extra stamping is something that I've seen done in the past for items like this......
